My years of teaching and tutoring have been a
valuable learning experience. I have gained much insight into individuals as
learners and individuals' learning processes. Learning styles have become
seemingly infinite to me. While I acknowledge the defined styles, I have
learned that students do not follow suit with one or even a specific mixture of
the styles throughout their academic careers. The learning process is fluid,
dynamic and ever-changing—from subject to subject and along the way of gaining
knowledge, understanding and insight. Students evolve as thinkers and learners,
and thus there is no assessment or test that indicates a student’s learning
styles or processes. I take pride in discovering each student’s abilities and
skills and assisting them in developing their own styles and processes to best
progress them in academics. Above all, I have learned that as a teacher I must
be as fluid, dynamic and ever-changing with each student, while staying a few
steps ahead. This is how I continuously evolve and inprove as a teacher and am
able to teach any student, the way they learn best, with long-term results.
